Genesis Gymnastics has been selected the winner of the BWG Festive Window Decoration Contest by a judging panel including MP Scot Davidson, Mayor Rob Keffer, Deputy Mayor James Leduc and BradfordToday.ca Community Editor Natasha Philpott. The contest was launched in late November for any business with a storefront window.
The judging panel scored entries on four criteria: uniqueness of design, story or theme, display and decorations, and overall presentation. Genesis Gymnastics won with an 88 per cent score.
“This window decoration contest added a much needed boost of positivity to the festive season after a very tough year for our community and our merchants,” said Mayor Keffer. “Despite the ongoing challenges and formidable demands COVID restrictions have placed on our business community, I’m pleased that some were able to make the time to add a little cheer and show our resilient BWG spirit.”
Window decoration contests, organized by different groups, have taken place in previous years as a lead-up to the Santa Claus parade. With COVID forcing the cancellation of this year’s parade, the Downtown Revitalization Committee recommended in November that the Office of Economic Development (OED) organize an event.
The OED formed a partnership with the Bradford Board of Trade (BBT) and BradfordToday.ca to create a $550 prize pack ($500 in digital advertising with BradfordToday.ca and $50 from BBT member Canadian Tire Bradford) for the winning entry, as well as a $200 digital listing on BradfordToday.ca for all entrants. The contest was promoted via each partner website and social media sites, digital advertising, articles in BradfordToday.ca and the Bradford Topic as well as by direct email.
The Town would like to thank BradfordToday.ca, the BBT and Canadian Tire Bradford for their generous contributions to this contest. Thanks and congratulations to all the entrants:
Bradford Jewellery, Genesis Gymnastics, Hearing Life Bradford, Holland Marsh Pop-Up Christmas Market, Mortgage Partners, Pet Valu and Vin Bon.
